GIULIA Veloce sounds like something you’d order with garlic bread.
But this is all the more tasty.
It’s another sign that Alfa Romeo are back to their very beautiful best.
The Veloce version of the Giulia sits neatly between the standard model and all-singing, all-dancing QV.
And just look at it. This is a Romeo to really fall in love with.
It gets “enhanced sports exterior styling” which includes gloss black details, dual exhausts, spruced up bumpers, 18in alloys, sports seats and aluminium gearshift paddles. Not only that it comes in this unique Blue Misano paint job and also bigger brakes plus the latest infotainment, active safety and climate controls.
Under the bonnet there’s a 2-litre turbocharged petrol which produces 280bhp and delivers 62mph in 5.7 seconds all the way up to 149mph.
The big question is whether you’d take this more expensive Alfa at £37,935 over a BMW 330i or Audi A4. It’s a real toughie.
To stand out from the usual German crowd, it’s a no-brainer with this stylish Alfa.
