All-new Jaguar XF on sale now from £32,300

The all-new leaner, greener and gadget-laden Jaguar XF is available to order ow in the UK, priced from £32,300.

The outgoing model revolutionised the styling of Jaguar’s saloons, setting in place themes that are still being followed today. Hence, the styling of the new car isn’t that different. Still the best looking big executive saloon there is, though.

Beneath the body, the XF is built on Jaguar Land Rover’s aluminium-intensive platform architecture, which also underpins the smaller XE. Weight is down up to 190kg over the old car, while the entry-level 161bhp diesel is some 80kg lighter than its nearest competitor.

With that engine – from JLR’s Igenium family – and a manual gearbox, the XF returns 70.6mpg and emit 104g/km of Co2, the best numbers posted by any non-hybrid in the class.

Jaguar claims the XF has class-leading interior space, as well. The car is actually fractionally shorter and lower than before, but the wheelbase has been stretched by 51mm, freeing up more legroom and kneeroom for rear seat passengers.

Electric power steering and adaptive dampers give suitably athletic handling – early reports suggest best in class – while All-Surface Progress Control keeps the XF moving even in the worst conditions.

Mercifully, Jaguar has created a completely new infotainment system, based around a 10.2-inch touchscreen in the dashboard. The system features a wealth of entertainment, connectivity and apps, with super-fast wifi connection and 60Gb solid-state drive. Add in a 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel, laser head-up display and adapative cruise control that effectively drives the car autonomously in a queue, and the XF really is stuffed with gadgetry.

The engine line-up at launch includes the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Igenium diesel with 161bhp or 178bhp (standard manual gearbox, automatic optional); 296bhp, 516lb/ft, 3.0-litre V6 diesel and 375bhp supercharged 3.0 V6 petrol. A 5.0-litre V8, supercharged, 500-and-some-bhp XFR will follow in due course.

Prices start at £32,300. For more information click here
