BBR Mazda MX-5 power upgrade launched

The Mazda MX-5 is a peppy little performer, but if its 167bhp isn’t enough for you, MX-5 tuning specialists BBR have the answer.

It used to be that only way to liberate more than 200bhp from the MX-5’s 2.0-litre engine was fitting a turbo. That’s a complicated, expensive process.

But now BBR has found a way of extracting a full 201bhp with some much easier upgrades in its new Super 200 package; a high flow air filter, a new exhaust manifold, new camshafts, 3.5-inch tailpipes and an ECU remap.

BBR has tuned the package to produce a better spread of power across the rev range, making the MX-5 more responsive and usable. It adds up to a car that is quicker and more exciting to drive.

If you want to go further, BBR offers all kinds of suspension and brake upgrades, and of course its legendary turbo conversions, which can give as much as 270bhp.

The Super 200 package is available for any post-2005 Mk.3 MX-5. BBR will convert your MX-5 to Super 200 spec for £2,195, or you can fit the bits yourself for £1,695.
