You may have noticed that 2019 marks the 100th birthday of storied British marque Bentley. To mark the occasion, Bentley is gifting itself a concept car, the EXP100 GT, teased here with an image of – we’re assuming – the door sill. According to Bentley, it “will reveal the future of grand touring.”
The emphasis is on technology and sustainability, the EXP100 GT being a “physical embodiment of the future Bentley brand.” The Crewe firm says it features a “transformative” zero-emissions powertrain and is capable of driving autonomously.
And yet the EXP100 GT isn’t intended as some of automotive isolation chamber. It has been “engineered to create a greater awareness of the world outside.”
A “fascinating array” of different materials adorn the interior, which Bentley claims is crafted to level hitherto unseen.
And that is as much as Bentley is saying for now. The press release sums up the EXP100 GT thus: “Bentley’s vision of the future of luxury mobility, it will intelligently and sustainably enhance the owner’s grand touring experience, whether enjoying the thrill of driving or being driven autonomously.”
All will be revealed when the EXP100 GT is unveiled on 10 July – Bentley’s “official” birthday, even though the company was actually founded on 19 January.
We’ll bring you more next week.
