BMW launches monster anniversary M5

The legendary BMW M5 super saloon celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2014. To mark the occasion, BMW has launched the ’30 Jahre Edition’ M5, packing a colossal 592bhp from its 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine. That makes it BMW’s most powerful road car ever.

With all that power and 516lb/ft of torque channeled through a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, the M5 30 Jahre does the 0-62mph sprint in 3.9 seconds and is ‘limited’ to 199mph. Which is fast. And yet it still returns 28.5mpg.

The pack up the mighty power, the anniversary M5 comes with the Competition pack, which adds lowered suspension, independently controlled Active M Differential and a re-jigged M Dynamic Mode giving shaper handling.

Beyond the mechanical upgrades, the 30 Jahre M5 is available only with Frozen Dark Silver paint and has many extra trim details inside and out. An ear-bursting 1200-watt, 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo comes as standard.

Just 300 M5 30 Jahre Editions will be available worldwide. The list price in the UK is £91,890.
