Alongside the many concepts that make the trip to SEMA each year, there are a number of production vehicles that join them on the stands of each manufacturer.
Chevrolet have over 20 cars on stand at SEMA, one of many new reveals was the new special edition Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition.
The Corvette Z06 is the most capable model in a long, storied history of Corvettes. It’s no show car either, currently sitting alongside some of the most capable supercars in the world. The Corvette Z06 produces 650hp and 650 lb-ft of torque in a much improved, sophisticated package.
This special edition of the flagship Corvette pays tribute to the racing version of the Corvette in which the Z06 features vast experience and technology from.
Based on the Corvette Z06 in the 3LZ trim, the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition comes equipped with the Z07 Performance Package that includes Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires.
With the Z07 package 0-60 mph is completed in 2.95s with the eight-speed automatic and 3.2s with the seven-speed manual.
The Z07 package also adds adjustable front and rear aero components for improved aerodynamic downforce.
The visual cues to separate it from the standard Corvette Z06 includes the C7.R Edition graphics package, yellow brake calipers, yellow accented black wheels, a carbon-fibre ground effects package, carbon-fibre section on the bonnet and a jet black leather interior with sueded microfiber accents and microfiber-trimmed Competition Sport seats.
Only 650 examples of the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition will be made. 500 are allocated to the United States with the other 150 going global. Each C7.R Edition is individually numbered starting with VIN 700001. No prices have been announced yet.
