It’s nearly closing time at a fish and chip shop in Boston, Lincolnshire. Workers are busily cleaning up when there’s suddenly an almighty crash. The crash of a Honda Accord driving through the front wall.
The car barely comes to a stop before the driver is reversing it back out and taking off at speed. Luckily, the chip shop guys were able to chase him down and hold him until the police arrived.
Unsurprisingly, the driver, Raimonhas Gailrunas, turned out to be drunk. He was charged with driving a vehicle while above the prescribed alcohol limit, driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after a road accident and driving without insurance.
The drunk driver pleaded guilty at Lincoln Magistrates Court and was given an 18 month driving ban and a community order. The fish and chip shop, Eagle, is still open, albeith with a gaping hole in the wall.
