British police cars are all a bit rubbish. Oh sure, we’ve got a few Subaru WRXs knocking around, but by far the most common cop car here is the Vauxhall Astra diesel.
The Dubai Police do things a little differently. Make that a lot differently. As in, they buy supercars. Then they spend who knows how much money filming a magnificently lavish and self-indulgent, Fast & Furious-style promo featuring said supercars.
We spotted, in no particular order, a Ferrari FF, Mercedes SLS, Nissan GT-R, McLaren MP4-12C, Brabus-tuned Mercedes G-Wagen, BMW M6, Audi R8, Bentley Continental GT, and a Bugatti Veyron. That’s by no means the whole fleet, either.
What’s the point? Publicity and tourism. You’re unlikely to see any of the multi-million pound collection on patrol; they mainly just cruise the tourist hotspots. Though it’s entirely possible that, if something really serious went down, you might see the Veyron responding at 240mph.
