EVER wondered what a Formula One car will look like in a decade?
Well, this is it. According to Renault anyway.
The French giants have unveiled what they think will be roaring round Monaco in 2027.
And wow, this R.S. 2027 Vision concept – unveiled in Shanghai – will get David Coulthard drooling.
Obviously there’s enough technical data to choke a donkey and bamboozle Steven Hawking.
To give you the headlines; it’s light, quicker and safer.
Underneath the super-slippery aerodynamic body it uses hybrid power, a turbocharged V6 and KERS system of 500kW – that’s five-times what the current F1 stars are using right now. It will also deliver 1,340bhp.
Not only that, it’s 45kg lighter at just 60kg which is positively Victoria Beckham-esque compared to the 105kg that Lewis Hamilton and co are roaring round in right now.
But the real eyebrow-raising stuff is that the cockpit is transparent so you’ll see the drivers texting on their phones as they drive round. Renault also say the future helmets will be transparent.
F1 just got very interesting. Just got to wait to 2027 to tune in.
