The Gumball 3000 will host the biggest petrolhead party of the year on London’s Regent Street on June 8, when the rally rolls into the Capital. 2014’s 15th anniversary event starts in Miami, Florida and will party through Atlanta, Georgia and New York City. All 120 cars on the run and their drivers will then be flown to Edinburgh before driving all the way to Ibiza via London, Paris and Barcelona.
But highlight of the event will be the street party in London, a homecoming to where the Gumball began back in 1999. The celebrations will last all day with extreme sports demonstrations, live music, celebrities, a kid’s zone, car displays and much more. The main event will happen in the evening when the Gumball cavalcade rolls into town amid a carnival procession. Cars already entered on the event include DeadMau5’s infamous computer game-inspired Purrari, Pagani Zondas, LaFerraris and even full-blooded, road-legal racing cars.
The 120-car rolling motor show will park up for the night on Regent Street and the Gumballers will mingle with the assembled fans, petrolheads and partiers before decamping to London’s hottest nightclub Cirque du Noir, whose performers will make rare public appearances during the day. The Spirit of Gumball travelling festival follows the event along the route, with free concerts and DJ sets for the fans. The event also raises money for the Gumball 3000 Foundation, through auctions of once-in-a-lifetime prizes.
This year’s Gumball will be doubly special for founder Maximilian Cooper, who will marry hip-hop artist Eve after the rally, having met her during last year’s trip.
The 2014 Gumball 3000 starts in Miami on June 4 and finishes in Ibiza on June 11.
