YOU’RE XE and you know it…

OK Jaguar chaps, throw away the tweed cap and driving gloves and replace them with a crash helmet and a Prodigy soundtrack.

Oh yes, the Big Cat have unveiled their most powerful ever road car with the four-seat super-saloon able to hit whopping 200mph.

The extreme hand-built Jaguar XE SV Project 8 was designed at the new £20million Special Vehicle Operations plant in Warwickshire.

Under the bonnet you’ll find a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine delivering 592bhp putting it in the same league as full fat supercars.

It means it can hit 200mph and hit 60mph in just 3.3 seconds.

Just 300 of the Project 8 models will roll of production lines with a price tag starting at an eye-watering £149,995.

It will be the second Collectors’ Edition vehicle from SVO, following the Jaguar F-Type Project 7 a couple of years ago.

John Edwards, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations MD said: “Project 8 is a great example of what happens when enthusiastic designers, engineers and manufacturing specialists are given the opportunity to create an extreme performance sports car without compromise.

“Project 8 will be assembled by hand in the new SVO Technical Centre, and we’re confident that our enthusiastic and demanding clients will love driving Project 8 as much we do.”

It also looks the absolute dog’s danglies with a muscle-bound bodykit to die for. It even has a huge rear spoiler. Yes a spoiler on a Jaguar. That’s like going to Lord’s cricket to watch a test match downing Aftershocks and Iron Maiden’s Ace of Spades blaring out on your iPod speaker.

The Project 8, which will be built entirely in left-hand drive, will sit at the top of the XE family saloon range.

It’ll make its official debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend as Jaguar continues to go from strength to strength.

Sales in the UK are up 27 per cent for the year thanks to models like the F-Pace SUV which is the company’s fastest-selling model.

Ian Callum, Jaguar Design director, added: “Project 8 is a performance-driven car. As such, all of the enhancements we’ve made to the XE sports saloon – already a benchmark for dynamics – are established through physics as well as aesthetics.

“The result is clearly a powerful looking and very fast motor car. The aerodynamic elements are hugely significant beyond 150mph, even more so beyond 180mph.

“This is one of the most extreme vehicles we have ever created, but still very much a Jaguar.”
