DID you have a chilled out Bank Holiday weekend?
While you were lazing around in the garden, Citroen rally ace Kris Meeke was rolling around the grass too.
Unfortunately he was strapped into a Citroen C3 rally car at the time and a terrifying high speed roll in Argentina.
His Bank Holiday consisted of banging into a bank at high speed in the WRC – YPF Rally 2017.
It was one of two big crashes during the weekend for the Northern Irishman.
In this video, on Friday you can see Meeke forced to retire after hitting a bump mid-corner which sent the car spiralling out of control.
Meeke referred to it as a “nothing bump” but it sent the car into the air and smashing into a bank sustaining an incredible amount of damage.
Incredibly Citroen’s outstanding mechanics got the C3 back in competition after a three-hour rebuild.
But unfortunately Meeke crashed yet again on Saturday afternoon sending the rebuilt car into a horrendous 14-roll spin yet again.
This time there were no comebacks. Meeke, who described it as the worst crash of his career, and co-driver Paul Nagle were left needing treatment and a CT scan which thankfully showed no further body damage. Phew.
