Hard to believe that the iconic Lamborghini Miura reaches its 50th birthday this year. The car that set the supercar template in many ways still looks contemporary.
Among the many celebrations that mark the anniversary, Lamborghini is launching a special edition Aventador. Called, appropriately enough, Lamborghini Aventador Miura Hommage, it is the work of Lambo’s Ad Personam bespoke department and just 50 will be built.
The Hommage is marked out by two-colour schemes inspired by the Miura, the orange-and-gold livery pictured here lifted from the bonkers Miura SV. Other options include Blu Tahiti and the brilliantly-named Verde Scandal.
It rides on 20in front and 21in rear wheels and many ‘Miura 50’ badges are dotted about the place. The interior is dressed in a full carbonfibre package and black or tan leather.
Mechanically, the Miura Hommage is as-per the standard LP700-4. That means there’s a 6.5-litre V12 mounted in the middle producing 690bhp – almost twice the 350bhp the first Miura turned out. Funnelled through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to four-wheel-drive, that power translates to 0-62mph in 2.9secs and a top speed of 217mph.
According to Lamborghini, most of the 50-strong run have already been sold, so you better be quick if you want one.
