We bloody love Lego. Well, until we stand on it with no shoes on. Or until our cat barfs up a ‘sixer’ on the living room rug. Repressed childhood memories aside, it’s ace. And it just got acer. That’s not a word. But you know what we mean. Plus, we’re talking about Lego, where you can make anything, so in that spirit, we’re making our own words. Oh, and we want to make this – the Lego Caterham 620R!
How utterly awesome does it look? It’s a teeny, tiny Lego version of one of Britain’s most iconic sports cars. We love it, and we bet you do, too. Because Lego is cool.
The kit, which comes in at an impressive 28cm in length and 10cm in height, features 770 pieces. It’s also very yellow, just like its petrol-swigging big brother. It’s not just kit to build and admire though. Oh no, you’re positively encouraged to play with it. The nose cone comes off, as does the engine cover. There’s an opening boot, too. Oh, and you get axle stands so you can lift it up and remove the wheels. Super cool!
Originally submitted by fanatic Carl Greatrix to the LEGO Ideas platform, in which fans can submit their ideas for new LEGO sets, the 620R gained the requisite 10,000 votes and the LEGO Ideas Review team selected the 620R to go into production.
Caterham Chief Commercial Officer, David Ridley, said: “The LEGO 620R has various unique features – the intricately-designed engine was certainly a surprise when we lifted the bonnet for the first time. It’s really satisfying to know that fans can recreate and build their own 620R with LEGO bricks.”
The Caterham LEGO 620R will be available to buy from October 1st, priced £69. So, just in time to get it on your Christmas list. Though you’ll have to be quick, this won’t be on the shelves for long.
