Order books have opened for the Mercedes-AMG GT, with prices for the Porsche 911 rival starting at £97,195.
That amount will buy a ‘base-spec’ GT, with a 456bhp version of the 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine. 0-62mph takes 4.0 seconds, with a top speed of 189mph.
Standard spec includes 19-inch wheels, limited slip differential, AMG sports exhaust, Comand infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and AMG sports suspension.
Deliveries won’t start until late next year, but we’re not that bothered because, in April, we will get the 503bhp GT S. That will set you back £110,495.
The extra power sees the 0-62mph time drop to 3.8 seconds and it’ll do 193mph flat-out. The extra money adds 20-inch wheels, AMG Ride Control suspension and an electronic rear diff.
At launch, there is a limited-run GT S Edition 1 version (£122,745), which is jazzed up with a fixed rear wing, deep front splitter, silver and black wheels, carbonfibre roof and leather and suede upholstery.
As you would expect, there are many colour and trim options; ceramic brakes are a £5,995 extra. The £4,195 Premium Pack, with reversing camera, panoramic roof and Burmester stereo will surely be obligatory.
The waiting list will probably be over a year long by the end of the week, so get your order in fast. Or if you want to jump the queue, expect traders to be asking at least 150 grand.
