EMBEDDED in my brain is kids cartoon character Dora The Explorer singing “backpack, backpack”.
Oh the joys of having kids and a young daughter.
So imagine my horror when Mini reveal a new model by the same name. Well, that’s what I thought they said.
It’s actually the ‘Black Pack’ Clubman. But doesn’t stop me repeating it a la Dora all day.
Anyhow, Mini have launched two special edition models of the Clubman estate.
For car firms, adding a bit of noir to your range has become as reliable as the Little Black Dress for women going out for the night.
The Black Pack Clubmans get 17-inch ‘Black net’ style gloss alloys combined with black bonnet stripes – which looks great on the gun metal paintjob.
Inside, the dark theme continues with piano black interior trim elements and a black multifunction steering wheel. I love a bit of piano black.
These are subtle tweaks but there’s also Black Pack badging to mark the cars out as special edition models.
In terms of standard equipment, Black Pack cars come with a Mini satellite navigation system, plus Bluetooth, cruise control, and compatibility with the MINI Connected smartphone app. The optional Excitement Pack from the standard range is thrown in for good measure.
They are on sale now – starting at £21,430 for the Cooper and £23,735 for the Cooper D version.
Thankfully no Dora backpack or DVD is included.
