New Kia Optima prices announced

Taxi drivers rejoice! Pricing has been announced on the new and improved Kia Optima. (Note: The Optima isn’t exclusive to taxi drivers.)

The new Kia Optima was revealed earlier this year with a much sleeker look, plusher interior and much improved tech all in a more refined package as a whole.

Even with all of those characteristics the new Kia Optima achieves up to 25 per cent more fuel-efficiency than the outgoing Optima. To top all of that off, even in a very competitive saloon segment Kia have announced that prices of the new Optima start from a very reasonable £21,495.

The new Optima comes in three trims, all creatively badged 2, 3 and 4. The sporty GT-Line and GT versions of the Optima will join the lineup in 2016. Each trim level is generously equipped and they all feature Kia’s fuel-saving, emissions-reducing ISG system as standard.

The entry-level grade 2 comes as standard with a 7-inch sat-nav system, reversing camera, dual automatic air-con, cruise control, electrically heated folding mirrors, a six-speaker DAB radio system with MP3 compatibility and Bluetooth.

Grade 3 upgrades the navigation screen to 8 inches, there is a 7-speed dual clutch transmission available and a drive mode select function. The driver’s seat is eight-way power-adjustable with four-way electronic lumbar adjustment, there are heated front seats and a Harman Kardon premium sound system.

Finally grade 4 combines the best of Grade 2 and 3 and combines it with literally every driving and safety assists in existence, a wireless mobile phone charger, a 360-degree view monitor, a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon headlights with automatic levelling and washers, Dynamic Bending Lights, ventilated front seats and heated outer rear seats and rear window blinds.

And breathe.

The previous gen Optima started with Grade 1 spec and topped out with Grade 3 so already the level of quality and refinement on the new Optima range is already far greater.

The bodyshell of the all-new Kia Optima is 50 per cent stiffer than that of the previous model and 8.6kg lighter. The suspension is uprated yet more comfortable on unforgiving surfaces and still it is the most dynamic and agile Optimas to drive.

Prices start from £21,495 for the grade 2 and rise up to £28,895.

The all-new Optima comes with Kia’s incredibly industry-leading seven-year warranty, so whether you really are a taxi driver or just someone who is after a good, well refined, affordable saloon, the all-new Kia Optima should definitely be on your shortlist of cars.
