New Vauxhall Astra to make world debut at Frankfurt

Vauxhall’s all-new British built Astra is set to make its world premiere at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The all-new Astra, which is built at Vauxhall’s plant in Cheshire, will debut on the 15th September at one of the world’s biggest motor shows.

As with each generation of car models comes a number of enhancements and changes and the all-new Astra is no different. The upcoming mid-size hatchback comes in up to 200kg lighter than the outgoing Astra and thanks to some clever design wizardry the all-new Astra manages to be smaller on the outside and bigger inside than the outgoing Astra.

There will be a wide array of engine options available on the Astra when it arrives later this year. Along with a number of petrol and diesel engines filling the range there is now a new 1.4L four-cylinder Ecotec Direct Injection Turbo that produces 143hp.

Tim Tozer, Vauxhall’s Chairman and Managing Director said: “The all-new Brit-built Astra raises the bar in terms of quality, design and connectivity. Lighter than ever before, with new powertrains and cutting-edge technology the new Astra looks set to shake up the C-segment when it arrives in showrooms this autumn.”

The all-new Astra goes on sale in October with prices starting at £15,295 which is £150 less than the outgoing model. The higher spec Astras can be as much as £2,200 at the top of the range.
