Cars are great. But then again, we would say that. After all, cars are what we do here at Only Motors. We live for internal combustion. But it’s not just the cars, it’s also the people. Because without the people within it, the car world would be pretty dull, right?
That’s why we make #petrolheads over on Onlymotors.tv. It’s a show about the people that live the car life. The guys and girls who, like you, love every corner of the vast motoring spectrum. And lately, we’ve been pretty damn busy bringing you some fresh episodes. They’re up now, but in case you missed them, here’s a handy little re-cap of what you can find…
#Petrolheads – Ben Morley
Ben Morley is the main man behind the brilliant Retro Ford magazine. He’s living the dream by spending his time writing about old Fords, by driving them and photographing them. If you like your Dagenham metal, Ben’s your man.
However, what sets Ben apart is his car. It started life as a humble 1.3 Mk2 Escort. But now it has evolved into something else. It’s a racer, a drifter and most impressively of all, an icon in the Ford world. But it’s been a challenge to get it here. Watching this, we’re sure many of you will feel his pain as he talks about the highs and lows of creating the car of his dreams. This isn’t just metal and rubber. It’s more than that. It’s part of the family. And if you want to know even more, you can do so by watching this episode of #petrolheads.
#Petrolheads – Elliott Roberts
If you know the VW world, you’ll know Elliott. His name stretches far and wide throughout the scene, mainly because he’s the boss-man at Performance VW magazine. He’s the guy who has been working to shape the scene for nearly twenty years. He lives for all things VW and he puts his money where his mouth is by building some of the finest VWs out there.
But what’s it like to be king of the VW scene castle? How did he get there? Could mere mortals like us ever hope to achieve such automotive notoriety? It turns out we could. Elliott takes us through this episode of #petrolheads, explaining how he got here. How his iconic Wheels Whores brand came to be and how he’s going to make sure the good stuff never stops. Inspirational stuff, this.
#Petrolheads – Andy Harriss
The world of safety. How boring is that, right? WRONG! It’s not boring. Not at all. At least it’s not if your name is Andy Harriss and you’re the boss and owner of MSS. If you don;t know what MSS is, let us tell you – it’s a company that offers safety solutions to the film industry. Yeah, that’s piqued your interest hasn’t it?
Well, that’s good. Because you’ll love this episode. Andy and his team haven’t been looking after Country File. Oh no, they’re a bit bigger than that. How does Mission: Impossilbe 5 grab you? Or maybe Fast and Furious 6. Oh, and let’s not forget Rush. Yeah, Andy has worked behind the scenes on all of these, and the resulting stories are fascinating. Oh, and he also works for a little motoring show called Top Gear. You might have heard of it?
#Petrolheads – Tom Ford
You know Tom Ford, right? The lovable goofball from Fifth Gear? Of course you do, he was always entertaining to watch. Normally he was crashing something, which is always fun. Sometime he was just presenting. But that’s not all he’s done. Far, far from it in fact.
Tom likes an adventure. While he might make shows for BBC America, he’ll always take time out to do something wacky and wild for Top Gear magazine. We’re talking about big stuff here, too. Like driving a Fiat Panda 4×4 up (and down) Mount Etna. While it’s erupting. The mountain that is, not the Fiat. Oh, he’s also raced a train across America, in a Bentley. He’s gone arctic in an Atom and lots, lots more. It makes for some seriously captivating television.
#Petrolheads – the future’s bright!
So that’s where we’re up to so far. But there is lots more planned for the coming weeks. We’ve got serial car collector, Paul Cowland who takes us around his eclectic mix of motors. We’ve got Stephen Harper, the man who designed the Escort RS Cosworth. Then there’s Jim Blackstock, the founding father of Revs magazine, Graham Eason, a legend in the classic car industry and Lara Platman, the woman behind iconic motorsport photography. All coming your way soon!
