JAGUAR and Range Rover’s car launches are turning into the guest list of one of Elton John’s post-Oscars parties.
After previous A-list debuts for the Evoque with Victoria Beckham, Range Rover Sport and Daniel Craig plus the Jaguar F-Type with Simon Cowell – Ellie Goulding is the latest to get in on the act in New York last night.
The chart-topping star was the first to drive the stunning new mid-sized SUV Range Rover Velar to its launch in Manhattan and then opened the event by singing ‘Love Me Like You Do’ live on her Facebook page.
Ellie said: “I have always been a big Range Rover fan and it was a pleasure to be a part of its launch here in the US. Even more rewarding to be supporting a local charity that improves over 10,000 lives every year in one of my favourite cities.”
A Range Rover Velar will be auctioned at the East Side House Settlement charity gala, a preview of the 2017 New York International Auto Show, at the Jacob Javits Center on Thursday.
The winning bidder will be among the first customers in the world to take delivery of the highly coveted new vehicle. New York remains the world’s biggest Range Rover market.
The Velar is yet another success story waiting to happen for Range Rover.
Latest models Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Discovery have all been massive hits provoking record sales for the world’s favourite SUV brand.
The Velar sits neatly in the range between the Evoque and Range Sport. Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer, said: “Velar is now the compelling, stand-out design in the class, showcasing perfectly optimised volume, powerful, taut surfaces and a stunning silhouette.”
It’s available to order from Land Rover retailers now priced from £44,830, UK deliveries begin late summer. Five engines are offered at launch, starting with the 180bhp 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel to the 380bhp supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol engine. A 300bhp Ingenium petrol engine will join the Velar range later in 2017.
Unfortunately you don’t get Ellie as part of the deal…
