THEY say that speedway riders are made of barbed wire.
Well this proves it.
Check out this horrific three-man crash at the Latvian Speedway Grant Prix on Saturday night.
Top Polish star Maciej Janowski lifts violently coming out of turn two, comes down, and then rider and bike are ploughed into by the oncoming Matej Zagar and Bartosz Zmarzlik.
It’s terrifying stuff as Zagar narrowly avoids Janowski in the carnage but fellow Pole Zmarzlik crashes heavily into the wayward machinery.
Remarkably all three riders walked away from the high-speed pile-up and Janowski went onto to finish third in the final.
Unfortunately Zmarzlik was complaining about back pain later in the night but it ended as a Polish top three with Piotr Pawlicki winning it, Patryk Dudek second and Janowski third.
Janowski later admitted: “I’m happy to be on the podium but in a little pain. I hope everything is okay – we’ll see how I feel tomorrow.”
To think that I try and get a day off work with a slight sniffle or a paper cut to my finger!
The next round in the Czech Republic is on June 10 and live on BT Sport.
With this sort of action, it’s unmissable…
