The empty car convoy

How do you demonstrate the effectiveness of your driver assistance systems?

If you’re Hyundai (and hawking the new Genesis), you line up a convoy of six cars and get five of the drivers to jump out of the sunroof (onto a convenient truck), leaving the electronics in charge.

But, as scary as this empty car convoy might seem, it works, each following the one in front faithfully, round a corner and executing an emergency stop.

Autonomous cars aren’t the future. They’re already here. Just don’t try this at home. You haven’t got a convenient truck to land on.

What do you think?
