Top Gear’s Reasonably Priced Car could ironically become not so reasonably priced over the next week. The Vauxhall Astra that has graced the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car over the past few years is now for sale on eBay.
Fans of the show currently have the chance to own the modified Vauxhall Astra that has ran many laps around the famed Top Gear Test Track.
The modified Astra hatchback is yet another part of Top Gear that is leaving show along with former presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May who left earlier this year.
Chris Evans has been announced as the host of Top Gear when it returns next May and it has not been announced who he will be co-hosting with. Evans has reiterated his desire to alter the format and with the reasonably priced car also being sold it could very well be a part of the show that doesn’t return.
The Vauxhall Astra comes equipped with a full roll cage and front Corbeau Sprint racing seats with 5 point safety belt harnes. The vehicle has clocked 2,908 miles on track and the bodywork is said to be “in good condition however with some minor marks”.
The car is being auctioned on eBay to raise money for automotive industry charity, BEN however the vehicle is not road legal because the airbags have been disabled.
BEN Chief Executive, said:
“We are reliant on the generosity of our supporters to enable us to continue our work helping people who work within the UK automotive industry, so we are very grateful to Vauxhall Motors for this kind donation of a piece of history for a great cause.”
