Auction house Historics at Brooklands holds its next sale during Bank Holiday weekend.
The team has assembled a typically high-quality and very eclectic selection of lots in the ‘attainable dream’ price range. So you might not be able to afford any of them right now, but maybe if you scrimped and saved a bit.
We’re always drawn to the weird and wonderful here at Only Motors and there’s plenty of that in the catalogue. Click through the gallery to see the more left-field lots that caught our eye.
1957 Chevrolet Stageway Carry-All – Before the minibus was a thing, there was this. Originally built to carry 15, this was used by the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and is now fitted out as a party limo. Est: £18,000 – £23,000
1968 Austin 1800 rally car – The ‘Landcrab’ was an unlikely rally car, but ideally suited to the gruelling 10,000 mile London – Sydney Marathon. This is one of 6 cars built by the BMC works and finished 31st. In incredibly original condition with all original features. Est: £35,000 – £40,000
1968 Maserati Quattroportte S2 – 2nd-gen of Maserati’s supercar saloon. Not the most sophisticated of cars, but a great transcontinental express, then and now. This one is the right colours, lovely condition and has royal ownership history. Est: £48,000 – £58,000
1973 ISO Rivolta – Look at that upholstery! It’s like a 70s sofa! It’s in ISO’s rival to the Quattroporte, an ungainly thing powered by a socking-great American V8. This is a rare RHD, Ford-engined S4 in need of restoration. Which won’t be cheap, but worth it just for that interior. No reserve
1975 ISO Rivolta Lele – Another ISO, this time the 2+2 GT Rivolta. Very 70s styling inside and out and a muscular V8 under the bonnet. This is a genuine UK car in excellent condition. Est: £45,000 – £50,000
1982 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ47 truck – As useful as an old Land Rover, but much rarer and cooler. Though this one is so nice you might feel bad about putting it to work. Fully restored with power from a 4.0 diesel motor. Est: £10,000 – £12,000
1986 Lancia Delta GT i.e. – While the 4WD Delta HF was tearing up the world’s rally stages, this was Lancia’s rival to the Golf GTi. Always rare here and overlooked now, it was a good hot hatch nevertheless. This one is stunning, with just 18,000 miles on the clock. No reserve
1990 Bentley Turbo R Hooper Coupe – The Turbo R is one of the greatest super saloons of all time. This is a very rare 2-door coupe conversion by Hooper and epically cool it is, too. Est: £26,000 – £32,000
1998 Lamborghini Diablo VT – It’s a bright purple Diablo. Don’t need to say any more than that, I think. Est: £98,000 – £120,000
2006 Rover 75 V8 Connoisseur SE – I have no idea why Rover thought it was a good idea to build a RWD, Mustang-engined 75, but I’m very glad they did. Fast, refined, surprisingly driftable and utterly daft. It’s magnificent. This one runs on LPG so won’t be quite as catastrophically expensive to run. Est: £8,000 – £11,000
