The Toyota C-HR crossover will be making a very early public appearance, albeit in racing guise but still it’s an exciting prospect as it is set to be the first crossover to appear in the Nurburgring 24 Hours endurance race.
The new Toyota C-HR will line up alongside a Lexus RC and RC F for the endurance race as part of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s 10th successive appearance at the Nurburgring 24 Hours which will run from 26th to 29th May.
Toyota aim to continue taking part in the Nurburgring 24 Hours as their experience of doing so over the past decade has aided the development of both the cars and its personnel at the Japanese manufacturer.
Toyota regularly allow members of their workforce the opportunity to build team skills by joining the race crews and the Nurburgring 24 Hours is just one of the many opportunities available to do so.
The Toyota C-HR that will be racing is said to be much closer to the final production version than the concept version that was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The C-HR crossover racer joins the Gazoo Racing lineup alongside the RC F and also the RC which is making a second appearance.
Toyota Gazoo Racing was established back in April 2015 to unite the activities of Gazoo Racing, Toyota Racing and Lexus Racing under the same roof.
Team representative Akio Toyoda said: “Every year, we use this to hone both our team members and our cars. I have experienced this approach at first hand over the last nine years and, for me, this is the real meaning of motorsport.”
