The VW Microbus Restoration is moving forward after completing week 3. We are really starting to plow through the work now, and this weeks update show some significant progress. We’ve striped the doors and tailgate from bus, and stripped the old paint and now the shell is back to it’s bare metal state. This now, together with the media blasting, gives us a good idea of the panels that we can salvage and can repair, and the panels that will require replacement. We were delighted to find that the majority of the original panels are very straight with only small amounts of filler in a few places. We have found some ‘bodged repairs’ to the floor carried out earlier in the Bus’s life, but I’ll fully document that when we come to fitting the new floor panels. The work carried out this week will lead us nicely into next week when we will have taken delivery of the new body panels
Remember to keep checking back….
