THIS might look like the latest sci-fi car creation for the next Mad Max film.
But it’s actually real. It’s the crazy new Zarooq SandRacer 500GT is finally ready for production after two years of development.
First revealed at the 2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the Zarooq now comes with a fire-breathing 6.2-litre V8 under the bonnet.
That’s good for 518bhp and, as it weighs just 1,200kg thanks to lashings of carbon fibre, top speed is an impressive 137mph.
Power is sent to the rear wheels though a five-speed sequential manual gearbox.
With also more than a hint of the Batmobile about it, the 500GT is the debut model from the UAE manufacturer and you’ll need to win the Lottery to get your hands on it.
Just 35 of the SandRacers will be made, starting from $450,000 (£350,000) before you get liberal with the options list.
And while it might have supercar performance, there’s a dash of luxury inside.
A LCD screen, speaker system, air-con, hand-stitched leather and even a cupholder are all standard.
Zarooq says production of the first five 500 GTs has already begun, with pre-orders taken for most of the rest.
Once these are all built, the manufacturer will experiment with different engines and even a one-make rally series.
And the next Mad Max film, obviously.
