The collector car market has shown few signs of slowing down during a bumper 2015. The records haven’t tumbled as some might have expected, but some huge prices have been paid at auction this year.

Only Motors has compiled a gallery of the top 20 most expensive cars sold at auction in 2015. But before you click through that, here’s some statistics that jumped out at us.

  • The top 20 has a combined value of $247,476,500
  • Price of entry to the top 20 is $7,273,000
  • Only nine cars on the list sold for less than $10,000,000
  • You could buy #2 and #20 on the list for less than the cost of #1
  • Only four cars on the list are not Ferraris
  • Of those 16 Ferraris, 10 are 250s of some description
  • RM Sotheby’s sold 12 cars on the list, half of those at its Monterey sale in August
  • Just three cars (arguably one) on the list are ‘pure’ road cars

NOTE: Sale prices given in USD. Figures in brackets show sale price in other currencies for sales outside the US.
