Images of Volvo’s upcoming new big estate, the V90, have been leaked online, showing the car in scale model form.
The unofficial images surfaced on a Chinese website showing a 1:43 rendering of the V90, possibly Volvo’s own official promotional model. The model clearly shows that the V90 is heavily influenced by the Volvo Concept Estate, which was very well received on its unveiling at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Based on the SPA platform, the V90 shares it’s long, sleek proportions with the Concept Estate. The distinctive rear lights are drawn from the concept, too, while the grille is shared with the new XC90 SUV. Volvo’s signature strong, rounded shoulder line breaks up the huge expanse of metal on the sides.
The model shows a double sunroof, likely to be an option. We can’t see the interior but it is expected to be shared with the S90 saloon, featuring similar architecture to the XC90 whose interior is built around a large central touchscreen.
The Volvo V90 is expected to be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, possibly alongside the S90. Both are likely to go on sale in the second half of the year, with power from the T8 twin engine plug-in hybrid drivetrain, as well as D4 and D5 diesels. They replace the current V70 and S80.
