13 cars were damaged in this huge pile-up at last weekend’s NASCAR race in Texas.
The crash started when Denny Hamlin (#11) got a little lose on Turn 2 of the Fort Worth track, forcing Austin Dillon (#3) to jink out of the way. But Dillon cuts right into the path of Jimmie Johnson (#48) and gets nerfed up the rear, which pitches the Chevrolet into the wall.
The first few cars manage to get through, but all hell breaks lose further back as drivers get caught out by the concertina effect. Among the victims were all three Richard Childress Racing cars, including Dillon.
Amazingly, all the cars managed to recover from the wreck and cross the finish line; Dillon finished 19th, two laps down on winner Kyle Busch.
Incidentally, this might have been the most American NASCAR race in history, held in a former cowboy trail trading post and sponsored by a maker of duck hunting equipment.
